# What Do the Transaction Summary Items Mean?

The transaction summary at the top of an event's Transactions section (Event > Transactions) gives you a quick snapshot of where an event stands financially. This article explains what each item means and how it is calculated.

||| If you cannot see this section or get permission denied messages, please contact your Company Admin in order to get the required permissions.

### Where to Find the Transaction Summary

Open the event and go to **Event > Transactions**. The summary appears at the top of the page, above the list of charges, payments and other financial records.

|| The Summary is only available in the Staff User view, it is not viewable from the Customer Portal.

Shows **Up to date** when the event has no outstanding balance. If there is an outstanding balance, it shows **Overdue**, along with the date from which the current outstanding balance began.

**Total due today**
The outstanding balance for all transactions due up to and including today, including escrow. It is calculated as accepted charges minus accepted payments. Please note that this is not limited to transactions due on today's date alone. It includes anything that was due earlier and remains unpaid.

**Total charged to date**
The total of all accepted charges due up to and including today. This includes both standard charges and escrow charges.

**Total paid**
The total of accepted payments and refunds due up to and including today, including escrow.

**Total pending validation**
The total of payments and refunds due up to and including today that have not yet been accepted. For example, this would include a bank transfer reported by a customer in the Customer Portal that is still waiting to be verified. See [How to verify a payment](https://support.sonas.events/en/article/how-to-verify-a-payment-1f6u0p2/).

**Amount in escrow deposit**
The amount of escrow currently held, calculated from accepted escrow payments and refunds due up to and including today. This shows the amount held for return to the customer, rather than the total escrow charged. For more on escrow, see [How to use Escrow Deposits](https://support.sonas.events/en/article/how-to-use-escrow-deposits-rwug33/).

**Estimated charges**
The estimated costs for event sections that have not yet been confirmed (locked). Confirmed sections are not included, as their charges have already been created.

**Estimated revenue (excl. escrow)**
The total of all accepted standard charges plus the estimated charges for unconfirmed sections. Escrow is excluded, as it is held for return rather than earned as revenue.

### Things to Keep in Mind

* **"To date" figures only look up to today.** Total due today, Total charged to date, Total paid, Total pending validation and Amount in escrow deposit only include transactions due up to and including today. Charges with a future due date will not appear in these figures until they fall due.
* **Estimated revenue is not limited to today.** Unlike the "to date" figures, Estimated revenue (excl. escrow) includes all accepted standard charges, regardless of their due date, so it gives you the wider picture for the event.
* **Only accepted transactions count towards balances.** Payments that have not been verified appear under Total pending validation until they are accepted.
* **Payments made in advance.** If a customer pays a charge before its due date, the summary may not reflect this as you expect. See [Troubleshooting Transaction Payment Discrepancies](https://support.sonas.events/en/article/troubleshooting-transaction-payment-discrepancies-fo3pt/).
